Plwyf/Parish of Llandeilo Fawr, Maesteilo and Taliaris

St Teilo's church stands on a site where there has been Christian worship for nearly fifteen centuries, dating back to the mission of St Teilo in the sixth century. Our roots therefore go deep in Celtic Christianity and the Age of the Saints. We believe that as the church in this generation we are called to the tasks of spiritual renewal among God's people, and proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ in Llandeilo and the Tywi valley. We dedicate ourselves to the Gospel, to fellowship, prayer, worship and witness, and to the service of others.

Llandeilo Fawr Annual Festival of Music 13th - 20th July
As always, St Teilo’s will be the venue for most of the events and we look forward to greeting many visitors, old and new, who come to listen to wonderful music in the superb acoustic of our church. They also greatly appreciate the warm welcome, delicious refreshments and the specially-cleaned and beautifully decorated building and this is where we come in! Please look out for the lists at the back of church and sign up to help. There’s a lot to do but our efforts are well rewarded. While there is no entry fee for the weekday lunchtime concerts, the festival committee generously allows us to collect donations for the church as people leave. These, together with hire charges and sale of refreshments, make a much needed contribution to church funds.

Do support the festival, too. Why not bring a friend or neighbour with you to a lunchtime concert and stay for tea afterwards, or come for coffee and a chat before the recital? The café will be open from 12 noon to 3pm.

Creating a haven for wildlife St Teilo’s churchyard Creating a haven for wildlife
From April we have changed the way we manage the churchyard. We are letting nature go wild!
Instead of cutting all the grass on a regular basis, we will leave much of it to grow.....in so doing the wild flowers will be able to bloom, attracting butterflies, bees and other insects. Small mammals like voles and field mice, and reptiles such as slow worms will benefit.
But the verges each side of the main pathways will be mown fortnightly as before, so the churchyard will still look tidy. Then during mid to late July, the rest of the churchyard will be cut, after most of the wild flowers have finished flowering and set seed.
If you want to know more, we are going to follow the guidance published by the organisation ‘Caring for God’s acre’. There’s a lot of information on their website www.caringforgodsacre.org.uk and on our facebook page www.facebook.com/stteiloschurchllandeilo
